INSTRUCTOR Earl Vigilant Earl comes from a long line of martial artists. He started training in the Caribbean at the age of five, learning the fine art of grappling from his uncle. Since then Earl has studied and achieved blackbelts in several arts: Chang Moo Kwon, Tae Kwon Do, & Hapkido. Earl has also had training in many other martial arts including Judo & Ju Jitsu. Since moving to America, Earl has trained for 10 years under Master Kim at the Valley Martial Arts studio, as well as Kwon's Hapkido. Earl has won several Tae Kwon Do and open Karate championships, and he continues to compete to this day. F.Y.I. Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido are both Korean style martial arts. Since the 1988 Olympic Games Tae Kwon Do has gained world-wide popularity for its flashy kicks and sport-like atmosphere. Hapkido was founded in 1963 by Master Choi Yong-Sui as an effective system of self-defense. Hapkido uses strikes, grappling, pressure points, throws, weaponry, joint locks, sweeps, acrobatics, clinches, and conditioning techniques. |
